The Experience: A Celebration in Full Color

Color in Motion | An Experience Edit with Smiling Through Chaos

Some of our favorite projects are the ones that give us an opportunity to step outside traditional event design and have a little fun.

When Amanda Hudes of Smiling Through Chaos envisioned a vibrant tablescape for The Experience Edit at Crystal Plaza, the idea was to create something unexpected. Against the venue's beautiful white interiors, color would become the defining feature of the entire design.

Monica had the pleasure of bringing that vision to life through an abundance of colorful florals, creating a continuous display that moved from one end of the table to the other.

A Floral Spectrum

Rather than mixing every color evenly throughout the arrangement, the flowers were grouped to create a gradual transition from rich pinks and fuchsias through coral, orange, and bright yellow.

Roses of varying sizes and shades were layered closely together, allowing the colors to blend naturally while maintaining the distinction between each section. The result was a floral runner that carried the eye along the entire length of the table before cascading over the edge and down toward the floor.

The bright tabletop and transparent seating allowed the flowers to remain the focal point, while the glass-filled ceiling brought beautiful natural light into the space.

A Little Rhythm, A Lot of Color

Of course, what would an Experience Edit be without a little entertainment?

The photoshoot also featured a saxophonist, bringing another playful element into the setting. Against the colorful floral installation and the crisp white surroundings, it made for a wonderful combination of music, fashion, and floral design.

It's these kinds of unexpected details that remind us how many different elements can come together to shape the atmosphere of an event.

The Beauty of Creative Collaboration

One of the things Monica enjoys most about styled productions is the opportunity to collaborate with other creative professionals.

Unlike a traditional wedding day, where every design must be ready for a particular moment, a photoshoot allows the team to focus on creating the imagery. Flowers, place settings, lighting, and styling can all be considered through the camera's perspective.

Working alongside Amanda and the creative team was an opportunity to explore color and scale in a different way, while showcasing the possibilities of Crystal Plaza's bright, contemporary event space.

And sometimes, it's simply wonderful to get together with other talented people in the industry and create something beautiful.
