A Floral Perspective on Sophisticated Weddings Magazine
There is something special about seeing your work come to life in the pages of a magazine. Over the years, Monica has had the pleasure of collaborating with Sophisticated Weddings Magazine, contributing floral designs to styled editorials and sharing some of our favorite bouquets through advertisements in the publication.
While weddings will always be at the heart of our business, editorial photoshoots offer a different kind of creative experience. There is a unique opportunity to work alongside other talented professionals, explore beautiful venues, and create something with the camera in mind from the very beginning.
And, of course, getting to see everyone's hard work in print is always exciting!
Behind the Scenes of Castle Couture
One of our favorite collaborations brought us to The Castle Hotel & Spa in Tarrytown for Castle Couture, a fashion-inspired editorial featuring Gabrielle Kniery from Bravo's Winter House.
Between the dramatic architecture, glamorous bridal fashion, and richly colored florals, the property provided a beautiful setting for a photoshoot that was anything but traditional.
For Monica, participating in productions like this is also an opportunity to work alongside other wedding professionals in the area. Photographers, stylists, beauty teams, designers, and venue representatives each bring something different to the day, and seeing those creative elements come together is part of the fun.
The finished photographs capture the beauty of the setting, but they also represent the collaboration that happens behind the camera.
An Editorial at the Botanical Garden
The New York Botanical Garden provided a completely different setting for our next featured collaboration with Sophisticated Weddings.
This styled editorial featuring Jamie Gray Hyder and Michael Trotter embraced a more intimate approach to wedding design, with a beautifully dressed table, flowing white florals, and an atmosphere that felt romantic and personal.
Rather than designing around a full wedding-day schedule, the creative team was able to focus on how each element would photograph. The placement of the flowers, the movement of the greenery, the table styling, and even the smallest details all played a role in bringing the editorial concept together.
It's one of the things Monica enjoys about these collaborations. They offer an opportunity to approach familiar wedding elements from a different perspective, work with other talented vendors, and showcase the potential of a beautiful venue.
A Different Kind of Design Day

The creative process behind an editorial is a little different from the experience of designing for a wedding day.
On a wedding day, our focus is on bringing a couple's vision to life and making sure the florals are ready for every important moment, from the ceremony to the reception.
An editorial photoshoot works a little differently. Everyone arrives with a shared creative direction, and the day is centered around capturing the photographs needed to tell that story.
Flowers can be positioned for a particular angle, arrangements can be styled around a gown, and details can be adjusted to complement the lighting or setting. It is a collaborative process where every element, no matter how small, contributes to the finished image.
For Monica, these experiences offer a wonderful opportunity to be creative, connect with fellow wedding professionals, and continue exploring the many ways flowers can contribute to an experience.
